SHAKESPEARE AFTER SCHOOL

Our after-school program invites middle school students to explore Shakespeare's enduring characters and themes through the eyes of an actor. Professional teaching artists and undergraduate mentors guide participants through a variety of theatre games and activities, sharing the essentials of acting and directing, and helping students to discover the possibilities that unfold while bringing Shakespeare's language to life. Connecting mind and body through theatre and play, the program helps to build artistic, literacy, and social emotional skills, including communication, collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, and empathy.

Before this program, I was a shy, timid kid. It gave me a lot of confidence, I made a lot of friends, and I learned a lot about Shakespeare.
